Brian Burchett

Biography

Brian Burchett currently manages the Classroom & Cluster Services group of the Office of Information Technologies at the University of Notre Dame. The Classroom & Cluster Services group supports the public computing labs on campus, as well as the Registrar's technology-enhanced classrooms. Brian has been at Notre Dame 10 years and enjoys working closely with faculty and students. Away from work Brian might be found tending his beehive, building a hammered dulcimer, or restoring his grandfather's Farmall M. He's a little worried that while he's at Educause Midwest he'll miss the best part of the maple sugar season.

    AR, VR, and MR offer new opportunities to create a psychological sense of immersive presence in an environment that feels real enough to be viewed, experienced, explored, and manipulated. These technologies have the potential to democratize learning by giving everyone access to immersive experiences that were once restricted to relatively few learners.
