Biography

Dr. D. Renee Smith is the Coordinator of Digital Media Services at the University of Tennessee. Her responsibilities at DMS include acting as Executive Producer on video projects, setting production standards, and providing direction to production staff. She also works with faculty to create online lecture materials, and manages an on-demand video service. She has served as an adjunct lecturer for the Department of Journalism/Electronic Media and has over thirty-five years of experience in television and video production as a producer, director, and production manager. She has presented on media technologies at a number of industry conferences including Streaming Media East, Broadcast Education Association, Syllabus, Consortium of College and University Media Centers (CCUMC), EDUCAUSE Southeast, International Association of Technological Universities, and the Tennessee Library Association. Her research interests range from streaming media and video production technologies to social media use by digital natives and minority images in the media.
