Elizabeth Hodge

Biography

Elizabeth Hodge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business and Information Technologies Education at East Carolina University. Dr. Hodge teaches undergraduate and graduate business, marketing, finance, web design and instructional methods classes in the virtual world Second Life. She also teaches high school students enrolled in the Early College Second Life Program utilizing the Second Life Grid for the delivery of content. Dr. Hodge’s research interests center on Immersive Education, Virtual Environments, Web 2.0 tools and the use of Mobile Technology for creating learning communities within an online environment. Furthermore, Dr. Hodge believes that with the on-set of any new education program there must be indicators in place that determine the validity, reliability and value added to the teaching and learning process. Her research addresses the use of problem based learning game simulations, hands-on learning activities and the integration of technology tools within the classroom to engage students in the learning process.
