Gary Crane

Biography

Gary Crane is the Director of Information Technology Initiatives for SURA, Southeastern Universities Research Association. Gary's background includes 8 years at IBM, 14 years at the University of Rochester and 4 years at NYSERNet (New York State Education and Research Network) where he was the PI on a consortial NSF proposal that resulted in the deployment of a new statewide backbone supporting Internet2 access for New York's research universities. Gary is currently leading the SURA Crossroads Initiative for the SURA community, a project focused on developing a new regional optical network for the SURA community. Gary holds a B.S.E.E. and an MBA from the University of Rochester. Living in upstate New York and working for the SURA community, Gary is a full time teleworker.
