Kevin Duvall

Biography

Kevin Duvall is the Senior Technology Analyst for the University of Virginia. In this role, he is responsible for managing distribution of software, software licensing and contract management, and service improvement projects in Information Technology Services. Previously, he served as the Lead Project Manager at Solers, Inc., a federal contractor for the Department of Defense (DoD). In this role, he was responsible for managing a portfolio of DoD security appliance implementations and the associated project management efforts. Previously, he worked at the University of Virginia, in varying capacities, with his most recent position in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, as a project manager and executive assistant. In this job, he functioned as a go-to resource for strategy planning, acting with the CIO in committees and capacities, and working enterprise-wide projects. As a student at UVa, he worked in various roles to support and enable business processes within the central IT department at UVa. In addition to this role at UVa during undergraduate, he also served at The White House in their IT Project Management Office during a summer internship. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia, with majors in Chemical Engineering and Physics, concentrating in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, and a minor in Material Science and Engineering. During his undergraduate program, he was selected to be the Student Body Representative to the University Committee on Information Technology, the senior most body for IT governance at UVa. In his role on this committee, he authored a research paper, working with the VP/CIO, on online education, with specific focus on avenues for future development, balancing the role of the "residential experience" in University branding and focus, and hybridized learning environments and non-traditional undergraduate education. Kevin holds credentials in project management, service management, and IT security (cloud and on premise). He serves the higher education IT profession through his membership on the EDUCAUSE Young Professionals Advisory Council, his leadership as chair of the Project Management SIG of the Association of Collegiate Computing Services (ACCS) of Virginia, and as an incoming board member of the ACCS. His interests include studying notions of the future of the workplace, how technology will change social constructs, and the role of technology in higher education, both academically and administratively. In his spare time, he volunteers at Monticello as a greeter for visitors to Mr. Jefferson's home.
