Kirke Lawton

Biography

Kirke Lawton is the Director of Enterprise Data at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). In that role, he oversees the AAMC's research data warehouse and operational enterprise information store and manages related projects. During Kirke's 7-year tenure at the AAMC he has led efforts to develop and implement identity management systems. The foundation of this is the Common Biographical Record System that has assigned unique 'AAMC IDs' to over 2 million people associated with academic medicine. Kirke was the architect of this system and manages its evolution. During the past 2 years, Kirke has led the effort to develop and deploy a role-based access control system for the AAMC wide array of Web-based applications and private Web sites. Kirke's academic training is in economics and political science with an emphasis in statistics. He has a masters in political science from the University of Rochester. Before joining the AAMC he was involved in healthcare services research and the development of hospital benchmarking systems.
