Mark Leuba

Biography

Mark Leuba is Vice President,Product Management for IMS Global, the ed-tech interoperability leader. As a technology executive in education, Mark has held positions as CIO for an online university, CTO for an LMS platform company and consulting-advisor to leading foundations in education. In 2015 Mark led TIP, the Technical Interoperability Pilot project for the Competency-Based Education Network and published the project research in the Educause Review. In addition to his cross-functional product role, Mark is overseeing IMS's Digital Credentials and Competency-Based Education portfolio. Mark is formerly an education technology consultant and the the Chief Information Officer for American Public University System, where in that role Mark guided technology strategy and investments through critical milestones such as regional accreditation, Title IV authorizations and initial public offering. In 2009 Mark joined Moodlerooms as Chief Technology Officer where he led strategic initiatives for the open source LMS platform provider, most notably its transition to cloud-based infrastructure. At the time, the successful migration of 1,000 plus client websites was the largest project of its kind in education services. As an education technology consultant Mark contributed to numerous projects for the Gates Foundation, including their Next Generation Courseware Challenge and most recently he led the C-BEN TIP project, to date the largest technology R&D effort focused on CBE. It was this CBE work that led Mark to IMS Global. Holding a B.S. degree in Business Administration/Finance from the University of Baltimore Mark also earned an Associate's of Arts in Information Technology from the Community College of Baltimore County.
