Tom Davis

Biography

As AVP for information security, Tom Davis provides executive leadership and oversight for, and advises university leadership on, strategy, policy, and execution for cybersecurity related to computer and telecommunications systems; incident response; continuity of operations; and appropriate collection, deployment, handling, and security of institutional and personal information.

In addition, Davis provides executive leadership for the Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN- ISAC). The REN-ISAC maintains a trusted coalition of cybersecurity professionals throughout higher education and provides key services to those professionals so they are better equipped to analyze and respond to security threats and incidents.

Davis is also the founding executive director and CISO of OmniSOC—a cybersecurity operations center for higher education. In this role, he provides executive leadership in establishing, refining, and maturing OmniSOC and its services based on member needs and the changing security landscape.

Before his current appointment, he served as chief security officer and provided leadership and specialized expertise to the development and management of programs related to physical access and security, personal protection, surveillance, the security of institutional and personal information, and the security of information technology.

Davis has been with IU and VPIT for over 30 years, serving as a dedicated security professional since 1991.
