Baiyun Chen

Biography

Dr. Baiyun Chen is a Senior Instructional Designer at the Center for Distributed Learning of the University of Central Florida (UCF). She leads the personalized adaptive learning (PAL) function of the Instructional Design Team. Her background spans from design of learning technologies, research methods and language teaching. Over the past decade, she has accumulated extensive experiences in teaching, design and development of online courses and training seminars for both higher education and K12 settings. She completed her PhD degree in Instructional Technology and a graduate certificate in Data Mining at UCF. Baiyun published peer-reviewed articles in Computers in Human Behavior, The International Review of Research in Open and Distance Education, EDUCAUSE Review Online and Quarterly Review of Distance Education. She has actively participated in professional conferences at local, national and international levels, presenting at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conferences, the Association of Educational Communications & Technology (AECT) conferences, the EDUCAUSE conferences, the Online Learning Consortium conferences, and others. She has developed and taught courses/workshops on instructional technology, learning theories and research methods. Her current research interests mainly focus on adaptive learning, design and evaluation of E-Learning systems and faculty professional development. She is also involved in projects related to mobile learning, ebook, open educational resources, ePortfolio, and faculty teaching readiness assessment.
