Biography

Since joining Arizona State University in 2016, Adam Pacton has advanced access and innovation in higher education through online learning and human-centered technology. He currently serves as an Associate Teaching Professor and as the Senior Strategist of AI Integration and Emerging Technologies in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts, a role he stepped into after serving as the college's inaugural Dean's Fellow for AI Literacy and Integration. In this position, he leads college-wide initiatives that prepare faculty, staff, and students to engage critically and creatively with artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and professional practice, work that now extends to guidance on safe and responsible AI-assisted development, university-wide AI governance frameworks, and the co-development of AI tools and technologies with industry partners.

He has developed and facilitated massive open online courses (MOOCs) reaching global audiences, advised on the creation of the Study Hall and Crash Course YouTube series, and coordinated large-scale first-year writing instruction at ASU. His research and teaching interests center on writing pedagogy, interdisciplinary studies, disability studies, and the intersections of AI, personalization, and scale in education.

He has twice received the ASU President's Award for Innovation (2017, 2021) for projects that expanded educational access and transformed curricular design. Across his work, he is committed to building inclusive, technology-enhanced pathways that connect learners and educators locally and globally.
