Aeron Gault
Biography
Aeron Gault is the Vice President of Information Technology at GFM Consulting, Inc. and serves as the Information Technology Consultant for the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He has more than two decades of experience leading enterprise information technology, cybersecurity, and infrastructure initiatives within higher education and the financial services industry.
At UAB, Mr. Gault leads a team responsible for managing enterprise Windows, Linux, and macOS environments, three data centers, and specialized research computing systems supporting approximately 2,500 users across twelve campus buildings. He has conducted research involving unified Wireless Voice over IP (wVoIP) networking and was instrumental in developing UAB's Distance Learning and Instructional Technology Center, expanding technology-enabled education and research capabilities.
As Vice President of Information Technology at GFM Consulting, Mr. Gault provides independent information technology audit and cybersecurity consulting services to financial institutions throughout the United States. He leads information security assessments that evaluate the effectiveness of cybersecurity programs, technical controls, and regulatory compliance. His work includes network penetration testing oversight, vulnerability assessments, firewall and network security reviews, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 security assessments, SQL Server and IBM AS/400 security evaluations, cloud security reviews, social engineering and phishing assessments, and enterprise risk assessments.
Mr. Gault works closely with executive management and Boards of Directors to strengthen cybersecurity governance, evaluate technology risks, and develop practical recommendations that align with FFIEC guidance, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, and other applicable regulatory and industry best practices. He also develops and refines IT audit methodologies, incorporates artificial intelligence to improve audit efficiency and coverage, and performs technical analysis of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and evolving regulatory requirements.
His professional experience includes information technology auditing, cybersecurity governance, project management, enterprise infrastructure, high-performance computing deployment and administration, wireless VoIP engineering, technology procurement, contract negotiations, disaster recovery planning, business continuity, instructional technology development, and strategic information technology planning. Mr. Gault is recognized for translating complex technical issues into practical business solutions that enhance security, improve operational resilience, and support organizational objectives.
