Using Process Mapping to Redesign the Student Experience

Alex Aljets is excited about applying process improvement and human-centered design techniques in higher education to support student and organizational success. She has 10 years of experience in higher education information technology, student affairs, and academic advising. She assists organizations with process improvement training and facilitation as an external consultant on a part-time basis. She was most recently the Assistant Director for Digital Transformation with University Information & Technology at Oregon State University. In this role she led initiatives to improve the student and employee experience by digitizing processes and connecting people with the knowledge and know-how they need to use technology tools to do their work. In her prior role as University Innovation Alliance Fellow, she collaborated with colleagues across 11 institutions on projects designed to improve the student experience for undergraduates from all backgrounds. She has a M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University and an Honors B.S. in Biochemistry & Biophysics from Oregon State University. She completed additional training in process mapping, human-centered design, and creative problem-solving.
