Alok Vimawala leads the compute, storage, backup, and cloud technology groups at the University of Michigan. Alok and his teams are focussed on ensuring that U-M faculty, staff, and students have access to the most appropriate compute and storage services for their needs. Alok is an active participant in the higher-ed cloud community - he has led annual workshops focussed on cloud networking and presented on a number of cloud related topics. He has also led many multi-year efforts including a $24M+ WiFi expansion, network rationalization, and cloud initiatives. He has experience across a range of IT domains including cloud computing, on-prem compute and storage, backup and DR, and networking and telephony.
