Biography
My name is Amir Gamal El Din Mohamed. I joined AUC in September 2006. My current position is Associate Director, IT Academic Support Services.
In September 2006, I have made a career shift (from banking sector) and started my work in the American University in Cairo as Service Manager in the Classroom Technology department. The department’s main responsibility was providing AUC faculty, students and staff who use the classrooms and event spaces with the most updated audio visual technology. My main responsibility was to make sure that the department provides the best services to the users. I have been in charge of all services that our department provides for about 7 years (2006 -2013).
Late 2013, I became “Manager, Classroom and Presentation Technologies”. My responsibilities included taking decisions for the appropriate standards and guidelines for installation, use, and support of all computing and audio/visual equipment in learning spaces across the two campuses.
In 2016, I have been chosen to be in charge of the IT Help Desk in addition to my current responsibilities. My title has been changed to be “Assistant, Director, Classroom Operations & Help Desk Services”. My responsibilities included tracking and analyzing trends in help desk requests and generate statistical reports, identify problems and implement solutions.
Early 2019, all computer labs in Business school and UACT have been moved under my responsibilities. I have been promoted to be “Associate Director, IT Academic Support Service”
Currently, there are 300+ classrooms, meeting rooms and computer labs that are under my responsibility. I have been working in managerial positons for more than 16 years. And I currently have 16 staff reporting to me.
My latest achievements:
- Upgraded the audio visual system in all new campus classrooms, labs and meeting rooms (200+ spaces) in 2015
- Introduced, with my team, a new ticketing system that is currently used by all AUC community. The new ticketing system, Vivantio, has been selected after an extensive search, so that it includes the most updated features in the market with the lowest cost. (2016)
- Added three active learning classrooms in 2020
- Converted 104 regular classrooms to dual delivery classrooms in 2022

- Bachelor of Commerce 1994, Ain Shams University- Major Accounting (Good)
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) 2015, American University in Cairo. Major Operation Management, with honor (GPA 3.75)
Before I work at AUC, I have been working at the Commercial International Bank (CIB) for 10 years. During my work in the bank I gained an excellent experience in customer services, as I have worked in different areas and have been dealing with different types of customers.
In my last year in the bank, I have been promoted to be a branch manager.
