Bringing Inclusive Language into IT
In the summer of 2020, a cross-team, cross-division group of volunteers in the Office of Information Technology at the University of California, Irvine, came together to create an inclusive IT language guide.
Andrew Laurence has been a systems analyst and administrator for longer than he cares to admit. He as been "the Mac guy", a linux/Solaris sysadmin, product owner for an enterprise calendar system, developed of an IMAP-Exchange migration system, managed a team of Windows administrators, and currently wrangles endpoint architecture systems at the University of California's Office of Information Technology. He has written for TidBITS and Macworld, appeared on the Runas Radio podcast, and presented at the MacIT and IBM Think conferences.
