Tony Pina

Biography

Dr. Anthony Piña is Chief Online Learning Officer and Director of Online Education at Illinois State University, Louisville, Kentucky. He is Past-President of the Division of Distance Learning of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and has served on the AECT Board of Directors. He is currently Past-President and a Trustee of the AECT Non-Profit Foundation. Tony has been a consultant to Fortune 500 corporations, small businesses, local government agencies, educational institutions and the U.S. Military. He is the author/editor of six books and more than 100 academic publications and has delivered over 250 conference presentations, including several keynotes. He serves on the editorial boards of four scholarly journals. He is co-editor of the book series "Leadership and Best Practices in Educational Technology Management" with Brill Publishing. Tony received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University, did post-graduate work at Arizona State University, completed his doctorate at La Sierra University, and earned a post-doctorate master’s degree from Sullivan University. He is a semi-professional guitarist and is married and the father of six children--four biological and two adopted.
