Biography
Apiwan D. Born is an Assistant Professor in the Management Information Systems (MIS) department at the University of Illinois at Springfield. She has developed and taught several Web-based graduate courses since August 1999. She recently received the Master Online Teaching Certificate offered by the Illinois Online Network and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration majoring in MIS from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She holds a B.S. in statistics (honor) from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She has master degrees in MIS (MSMIS) and in business administration (MBA) from Mississippi State University. Her primary research interests are effective strategies for Web-based teaching and learning, student assessment in an online learning environment, and impacts of information systems infrastructure on organizations. She has published several articles in national and international conference proceedings and recently completed two book chapters on Web-based student assessment.
