Biography

I recently retired from SUNY Stony Brook after 20 plus years teaching in the College of Business including being the Director of the MBA program, Director of Educational Technology, Director of SPD (Business Technology) and Director of the Study Abroad in Greece program. However, in lieu of retirement I decided to pursue my first passion, starting companies. My first company catered to the U.S. Navy by developing combat simulations for aircraft carriers (remember the F-14 – Top Gun), my second offered enterprise-wide software to the business world providing large and mid-range manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers with cost effective solutions, and now my third to academia. It will target specifically courses in Introduction to Business, Entrepreneurship (at the undergraduate and MBA levels) and Business Strategy. In this new venture we have created a simulation emulating the first 12 months of a typical startup. The activities include product design, market selections, advertising campaigns, pricing strategies, sales projections, inventory management, HR and cash management to name a few of the topics. The software was designed to be seamlessly integrated into the curriculum pursuing integration of experiential learning tools and gamification, thus assisting in the implementation process.
