Bethany Mickel
Biography
My position is situated within the University of Virginia Library where I work with students, faculty, and staff on meaningful integration of information and media literacy across disciplines. I leverage sound instructional design and UDL principles in the development of instructional materials and learning objects for use in both synchronous, asynchronous, and hyflex settings.
Support of Open initiatives is a fundamental role of my position and I work with faculty, staff, and instructional designers to design and create OER and Open Pedagogy opportunities.
My research interests include the intersectionality of information and media literacy as well as project-based learning as a means of assessment in higher education. I have a deep devotion to Open scholarship and materials design as a means of creating a representative and equitable access point to education.
