Betty Hawkins

Biography

Betty Hawkins is project managing the Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) effort in addition to a Data Security Initiative at the University of South Carolina (U.S.C.). The DR and BC focus is to create prevention, incident recovery and disaster recovery that continuously evolves and improves. Betty has implemented several new processes at U.S.C. such as Change Management, Root Cause Analysis and Computer Room Protocol to name a few. She wrote and exercised her first hot site recovery plan in 1994 in private industry. She has participated and hosted many hot site exercises and table top mock disasters. She has held several IT management positions in insurance and with IBM. Every position was either directly responsible or provided support for DR and BC. Betty attended Northeastern University and majored in Computer Science. She was Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by Boston University and later State Certified as a Senior Project Manager (SSCPM) in Columbia SC. She is also a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) from the Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI)
