Biography

Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering teaching and conducting research in transportation management, traffic operations, and traffic flow theory. Undergraduate and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from NC State University in May 1984 and May 1990, respectively. PhD from the University of Virginia in January 1999. Previous professional experience includes four years active duty in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps and over five years as a consulting engineer with Kimley-Horn and Associates. Also engaged in expert witness practice for cases involving roadway design, maintenance, safety, and traffic control issues. Interested in developing a consulting practice in specialized and cutting edge transportation system modeling and assessment.
