Brenda Carmona

Biography

I am Brenda Carmona, the Director of the Instructional Technology Center at Laredo College, where I lead efforts to blend technology with pedagogy, creating engaging and accessible learning experiences. As the first member of our campus’s Instructional Technology Center, I established the department from the ground up, building a team dedicated to supporting both faculty and students.

In addition to my role in Instructional Technology, I chair the college’s Microcredential Committee, guiding the development of stackable, skills-based learning opportunities that align with state initiatives and workforce needs. I am also actively involved in the Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning’s OER division, collaborating with faculty to make educational resources more accessible and affordable.

Driven by a commitment to expand educational access, I co-advise our college's chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, creating inclusive spaces where primarily Hispanic, bilingual, and economically disadvantaged students can develop valuable tech skills, connect with peers, and grow in confidence. Through these efforts, I strive to empower every member of our learning community to reach their full potential.
