Brenda Spychalla

Biography

Brenda Spychalla is the Co-CIO for the School of Education and Co-Director for Media, Education Resources & Information Technology (MERIT) in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (http://merit.education.wisc.edu), where she leads a diverse set of Library, Media and IT professionals on strategic planning and service delivery for the School of Education community and beyond. She has participated in numerous campus IT groups and initiatives, including the UW-Madison Information Technology Committee (ITC), the Enterprise IT Decision Making - Current State project team and the CIO-sponsored Women in IT project team. Her interests include IT leadership and management, governance, strategic planning, policy making, mentoring, women in IT, network services, security, web services, user services, and project management. Brenda has been a technologist in the School of Education since 1994. She has an MA in Library and Information Studies and a BA in History and Economics from UW-Madison.
