Brian Helman
Biography
Brian Helman designed and implemented his first production network in 1986. Over his 30+ year IT career he has contributed, designed, implemented and managed networks and Data Centers for Suffolk County (NY), Adelphi University (NY), Northeastern University (MA), Salem State University (MA) as well as a plethora of private clients.
From 1996-2024 Brian was responsible the Networking infrastructure and security, data communications, digital signage and access control. Brian has served as the EDUCAUSE Network Management CG leader from 2015-2020 and CG Wireless/NETMAN session presenter for EDUCAUSE and NERCOMP from 2012-2019. He has presented at INTEROP on BYOD and is frequent guest lecturer on Security and Technology in Education. He moved from Director of Networking Services to Chief Information Security Officer in 2024.
Brian holds a B.A (Applied Mathematics and Computer Science; Minor in Music History) from SUNY Stony Brook and an M.Ed (Secondary Mathematics) from Adelphi University, and obtained his CISSP in 2025.
