Bruce Alexander

Biography

Bruce Alexander is Senior Consultant and Advisor to the CIO at Michigan State University. He served as Director of Enterprise Architecture from 2012-2013, and as Director of Enterprise Business Systems Projects (EBSP) from 2004-2012. At EBSP Bruce directed the implementation of the University's coordinated projects to re-engineer MSU's enterprise financial, budget, human resource, payroll business processes; implement an advanced data warehouse, business intelligence and analytics reporting environment; and replace a legacy systems infrastructure with a new integrated set of systems based on current generation architectures and virtualized technologies. Prior to EBSP, Bruce was Associate Director of Administrative Information Services (AIS) where his responsibilities included direction of applications systems development, enterprise database development, data warehouse development, and data reporting infrastructure in support of the University's enterprise-level administrative functions. Bruce has an extensive background in IT management, including the areas of strategy and budget, systems planning, project management, process consulting, applications development, database administration, data warehouse planning and deployment, data and information security, end user computing, help/service desk, local area networking, and office automation. He holds B.S. and M.A. degrees from Michigan State. Bruce is active in multiple higher education information technology management organizations, including EDUCAUSE. He serves as MSU's representative on several Big 10 and CIC information technology working groups. Bruce serves as a Director of the Kuali Foundation.
