Cara Giacomini is research scientist with extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative studies at the University of Washington. Her work helps the University understand the technology use and support trends of faculty, students, staff, and researchers. She is also responsible for efforts in peer benchmarking and continual service improvement. In 2003, Cara received her PhD in English and Textual Studies from the University of Washington. Her scholarship and teaching focused on the Digital Humanities.
To systematically gather data to help inform technology-related decisions, the University of Washington conducts campus-wide surveys of instructors and students every three years.
Although most students own laptops and mobile devices, use of student computing centers at the University of Washington continues to be high.
