BiographyCara Giacomini is a researcher for UW Information Technology, the central technology unit at the University of Washington in Seattle. Her research helps the university identify the technology and support needs of faculty, researchers, students, and staff. Cara received her PhD in English and Textual Studies in 2003 from the University of Washington. During her graduate studies, she served as the Assistant Director of Computer-Integrated Courses for the Department of English, training faculty members and graduate students on how to teach with technology.
To systematically gather data to help inform technology-related decisions, the University of Washington conducts campus-wide surveys of instructors and students every three years.
Although most students own laptops and mobile devices, use of student computing centers at the University of Washington continues to be high.
