Carine Ullom

Biography

Dr. Ullom is an award-winning online course designer, academic technologist, and international education enthusiast who combines her passion for international/intercultural learning with her skills in designing online and engagement-at-distance learning opportunities to bring undergraduate students together for sustained collaborative learning experiences. She is Director of Instructional Design and Academic Technology at Ottawa University and leads a geographically dispersed team of designers and educational technology specialists.

Her design and development of an online course that paired adult online learners from Ottawa University with traditional-aged, first-time online learners in Skopje, Macedonia for eight weeks was a 2014 Blackboard Catalyst Award Winner in the Exemplary Course Design category.

Dr. Ullom is also on the faculty of the School of Education at Ottawa University and teaches undergraduate preservice teacher education courses online.

Dr. Ullom earned a B.S. in German and Computer Science from McPherson College (KS), an MA in German Language and Literature from the University of Wyoming, and an EdD in Educational Leadership for Change with a concentration in Leadership of Higher Education Systems from Fielding Graduate University. She has worked in higher ed for over 20 years and has lived abroad for a total of three years and has visited 21 countries.
