Carole Wedge

Biography

Carole C. Wedge, FAIA LEED AP, is president of Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott, a national architecture and planning practice headquartered in Boston. She is a leader in the planning and design of libraries and academic buildings, with expertise in the innovative programming and design of integrated environments. She works with clients to explore the convergence of learning, teaching, and research. Recent projects include the Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Consortium; the Firestone Library at Princeton; and the Boole Library at University College, Cork, in Ireland. A member of the American Library Association (ALA) and the American Conference of University Libraries (ACRL), she speaks and publishes widely. She serves on the board of the Design Futures Council and is active in the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP); and Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL). A longstanding advocate for sustainable design, Carole is a LEED accredited professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor in Architecture from the Boston Architectural Center. She has received honorary degrees from the Wentworth Institute of Technology and Boston Architectural College, and serves on the Boston Architectural College Board of Trustees. She was elevated to the College of Fellows of the AIA this year.
