Carolyn Sanford

Biography

In the library at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, Carolyn Sanford, currently the Head of Reference & Instruction, has long been involved in finding and accessing electronic information, especially data and data sets. As a part of the library’s Mellon Information Literacy Initiative, she initiated the project to assess the collaborative efforts of the Economics department, IT, and the Library in their efforts to support the Economics majors, especially the seniors working on their comprehensive project that includes using data sets. The assessment project includes both survey time series data and focus group interviews. After completing a social sciences degree at the University of Arkansas, Carolyn received her MLS from the University of Denver. During her sixteen years at Carleton she has been the liaison for the social sciences and government publications.
