Carrie Shumaker

Biography

Carrie Shumaker is Vice Chancellor for IT and Chief Strategy Officer for the University of Michigan-Dearborn, responsible for institutional strategy, technology, and data. I'm an experienced higher education executive with a knack for creating collaborations, developing teams, and championing change. Right now, I'm focused on our institutional strategy, developing strategies, goals and metrics to drive us forward and deploying technology and data to accelerate and measure our progress. Throughout my career I've used curiosity, empathy and determination to move teams past obstacles. I have specific experience in strategic planning and KPIs, as well as large ERP, CRM, data and analytics projects. I also hold a CISSP certification.

My previous roles were at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Information Technology Services, where I led technical and functional teams across many different disciplines.

I am currently serving on the Educause Nominations & Leadership Development Committee and I am a faculty member for the Educause Senior Directors Institute. I am also active in the Common Solutions Group.

I am a liberal arts major who discovered the technology field after graduating from college, and I'm thankful for an enjoyable and rewarding career I could not have envisioned as a college student. In my spare time I enjoy being a mentor for a FIRST robotics team with my teenage sons, and helping coach track and cross country.
