Biography
Dr. Catherine Howell is Senior Lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (Melbourne Graduate School of Education), University of Melbourne, Australia. Her professional interests include: activity theory, evaluation, the impact of new technologies on student learning, and innovative visual research methodologies. From 2008 - 2010, Catherine was Educational Designer in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at La Trobe University (Australia). From 2004 - 2008, she was based at the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies (CARET) at the University of Cambridge (UK). Catherine holds an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in French Studies from the University of Cambridge, an M.A. in English from the University of Queensland (Australia), and a B.A. from the University of Adelaide (Australia). She is a member of the Visual Research Collaboratory at the University of Melbourne, the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia, and the Australian Association for Research in Education.
