Catherine Zabriskie

Biography

Catherine Zabriskie is the Director of Academic Technology at Brown University. She is responsible for leading the central academic technology unit's efforts on the effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Her team delivers campus-wide academic technology services through instructional design, media production, and classroom technology expertise. She enthusiastically engages faculty, students and colleagues on strategic initiatives to meet the university's academic mission. Catherine led Brown's transition to Canvas (2011) and Brown's adoption of a central approach to closed captioning video content in support of accessibility (2014). She has been instrumental in growing the suite of media services essential to the creation of materials in support of face-to-face, online and hybrid course delivery models. Catherine received her B.S in Art History from the University for Colorado, and her M.S. in Educational Technology Leadership from the George Washington University. Prior to coming to Brown University, Catherine supported faculty innovations in teaching and technology for the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Maryland.
