Biography

Chad Burns is the Executive Director of Information Technology at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM), a public osteopathic medical school in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He leads a broad IT portfolio spanning infrastructure, cybersecurity, helpdesk operations, software and web development, database management, and telecommunications.

Chad has been with WVSOM since 2015, growing through progressively senior roles before stepping into his current position. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and brings a strong technical foundation to his work. His leadership philosophy is rooted in servant and transformational leadership, with a focus on building culture, earning trust, and creating environments where teams can do their best work.

Current initiatives include a campus wide Microsoft 365 Copilot rollout, data analytics modernization, cybersecurity enhancements, and ADA web accessibility compliance. Chad is also a graduate of Leadership West Virginia, a program dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders across the state, reflecting his commitment to community, public service, and the broader advancement of West Virginia.
