Charley Edamala
Biography
Charles Edamala holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University of Zambia, and a MS in Management Information Systems from Temple University. Charley has been working at Temple University since 1996, and has had experience in UNIX systems administration, Oracle and SQL Server database administration and web applications programming. In his current position as Director for Integration Systems and Emerging Technologies, Charley provides strategic leadership for various IT initiatives such as LDAP, the Temple Web and rich media complexes, the portal and email systems. He has extensive project management and team building experience, logging over 10,000 hours in technical project management. He has recently implemented an email system, migrating mailboxes from one system to another for 40,000+ users. He has also implemented an Oracle Portal 10.1.4 system for the 40,000+ students, faculty, and staff, in under 4 months. Charley’s team has created various web applications that have been noted for their emphasis on user friendly design. He is also responsible for the maintenance of the www.temple.edu web and media complex. His areas of interest include human factors in application design, portal theory, Oracle administration and data delivery methods such as XML and RSS. In addition to EDUCAUSE, Charley has presented at Portal and at Oracle Open World conferences.
