Chidinma Williams

Biography

My name is Chidinma Williams. I am a dedicated Ph.D. researcher and scholar in Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am also a Predoctoral Scholar of the National Alliance for Doctoral Studies in the Mathematical Sciences (the National Math Alliance) and a Citizen Scientist with the NASA Open Science Data Repository (OSDR) Analysis Working Group, where I contribute to AI and machine learning–driven research initiatives. I hold a Master of Science in Mathematics, specializing in Statistics and Operations Research, from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, as well as a Bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Mathematics with a secondary discipline in Economics and a minor in Statistics from Castleton University.

Throughout my academic journey, I have been blessed with several recognitions, which I am grateful to God for. A few of them include the 2019 Academic Excellence Award in Mathematics and the 2021 Matthew Samsel Graduate Assistant Fellowship in Mathematics and Statistics. In 2024, I received the Tutor Spotlight Award from Guilford County Schools in recognition of my commitment to academic mentorship. I am also an active member of professional organizations such as the Association for Women in Mathematics, the American Statistical Association, and the American Mathematical Society.

My passion lies in applying mathematics, statistics, and operations research to solve complex and dynamic problems, particularly in aerospace and flight systems. I played an essential role in developing SpartyWiz, an AI-powered student guidance tool that earned second place and the Viewer’s Choice Award at the 2025 UNCG AI Innovation Challenge. In addition, I volunteer with the NC A&T Aggie Rocketry Team, which reflects my enthusiasm for aerospace applications.

My approach to scholarship is grounded in my personal philosophy: “Mathematics is an expression of the beauty of God in all creation, all that exists, and the potential that lies therein.” Through my research, leadership, and community involvement, I strive to make meaningful contributions to both academia and the broader STEM community.

Personal Philosophy:

My strength comes from my faith in Christ. It has led me through several phases of life. I believe you can find hope at all times when you have something to hold on to, and for me, that is my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I would love to share a few Bible verses that I hold dear:

Psalms 100:5 - "For the LORD is good. His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. "

Proverbs 2:6 - "For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."

God bless you, and thank you for your interest in my work and page!
