Chidinma Williams
Biography
Chidinma Williams is a dedicated Ph.D. researcher and scholar in Computational Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is also a Predoctoral Scholar of the National Alliance for Doctoral Studies in the Mathematical Sciences (the National Math Alliance) and a Citizen Scientist with the NASA Open Science Data Repository (OSDR) Analysis Working Group, where she contributes to AI and machine learning–driven research initiatives. She holds a Master of Science in Mathematics, specializing in Statistics and Operations Research, from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, as well as a Bachelor's degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Mathematics with a secondary discipline in Economics and a minor in Statistics from Castleton University.
Throughout her academic journey, Chidinma has been blessed with several recognitions, for which she remains grateful to God. A few of them include the 2019 Academic Excellence Award in Mathematics and the 2021 Matthew Samsel Graduate Assistant Fellowship in Mathematics and Statistics. In 2024, she received the Tutor Spotlight Award from Guilford County Schools in recognition of her commitment to academic mentorship. She is also an active member of professional organizations such as the Association for Women in Mathematics, the American Statistical Association, and the American Mathematical Society.
Her passion lies in applying mathematics, statistics, and operations research to solve complex and dynamic problems, particularly in aerospace and flight systems. She played an essential role in developing SpartyWiz, an AI-powered student guidance tool that earned second place and the Viewer's Choice Award at the 2025 UNCG AI Innovation Challenge. In addition, she volunteers with the NC A&T Aggie Rocketry Team, reflecting her enthusiasm for aerospace applications.
Her approach to scholarship is grounded in her personal philosophy: "Mathematics is an expression of the beauty of God in all creation, all that exists, and the potential that lies therein." Through her research, leadership, and community involvement, Chidinma strives to make meaningful contributions to both academia and the broader STEM community.

Personal Philosophy:
Chidinma's strength comes from her faith in Christ, which has led her through several phases of life. She believes hope can be found at all times when one has something to hold on to, and for her, that is her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She holds dear a few Bible verses:
Psalm 100:5 – "For the LORD is good. His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations."
Proverbs 2:6 – "For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."
