Chris Lucas

Biography

Chris Lucas is the Associate Vice President of Academic Technologies and Customer Experience at Penn State. In this role, he leads and is accountable for the academic portfolio of IT services and applications, customer relationship management, and end-user support services.

During his 20-year career, Lucas has worked throughout IT in areas including enterprise applications, strategic planning, governance, service and project portfolio management, organizational effectiveness, IT Service Management, learning and development, data management, and research.

Throughout his career, Lucas also has participated in numerous professional committees; most recently, he serves on Penn State’s Libraries Information Services and Technology Faculty Senate Committee, the University IT Executive Advisory Steering Committee, and co-chairs the University Operational Excellence Committee. 

Lucas has spoken at several conferences, including the EDUCAUSE Face-to-Face meeting, the EDUCAUSE Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, the New Media Consortium (NMC) Summer Conference, the Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS) annual conference, and the LinkedIn Learning Summit.

Lucas is a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Institute Learning Technology Leadership Program and the The Leading Change Institute. He has completed the IT Leadership Program (ITLP) and Advanced Leaders Program by MOR Associates. Lucas holds the Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) certification. He also holds certifications in ITIL Foundations, ITIL Strategy and Prosci’s Change Management Methodology. Lucas earned a Master of Education in Instructional Systems from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Science from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Communications Media.
