Christina Churchill

Biography

Dr. Christina Churchill is the Director of Executive Programs, Distance Education, and Online Education for SMU Lyle School of Engineering. Previously, she was the Senior Academic Technology Services Director for the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. 

Dr. Churchill leads the SMU Lyle School of Engineering in revolutionizing the classroom student experience by transforming classrooms into blended Smart Classrooms.  As a passionate, dynamic learning architect, she led the faculty at Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business through the transition of face-to-face to remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Churchill provided essential solutions and training for faculty in learning theories, assessments, instructional design, and technology integration.

Dr. Churchill’s experience encompasses:
• Twenty-five+ years extensive experience in technology;
• Eight years in leading IT projects through design, implementation, and management;
• Ten years assessing, creating, and leading training programs;
• Ten years in education to include instruction, assessment, curriculum development, instructional design, and technology integration.

As a leader in instructional design and professional development, she has managed and led professional development and learning programs. Dr. Churchill has held positions in K-12 and higher education including Director of Technology, Director of Professional Development, Director of Instructional Technology, in-person and online professor, and K-12 teacher.  

She holds a Ph.D. in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas and an MS.Ed. in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University. Dr. Churchill has published in various professional journals and has presented at national and international conferences. Most recently, she participated as a panel expert for the 2022 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report and a faculty for the EDUCAUSE Digital Learning Leaders.
