Christine Havens-Hafer

Biography

Dr. Havens-Hafer is an Assistant Professor of Education at Ithaca College. She is engaged in research on XR with the graduate cohort of students in the Teacher ​Education program through a Virtual Reality Teaching Kit used to teach future educators how to conceptualize, test, and implement lesson plans that include virtual reality and immersive technologies. Students were introduced to the major platforms in immersive technology which has been at the forefront of K-12 immersive learning since its launch in 2015. Dr. Havens-Hafer received her Bachelor of Arts in English degree from Pennsylvania State University and  completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching degree and PhD at Binghamton University. She transitioned from the public school system to a career in higher education at Ithaca College where she focuses on preservice teacher education that incorporates diversity, equity, collaboration, course design, curriculum integration, and technology into the pedagogy.
