Biography

Christy Long is the Associate Chief Information Officer (ACIO) for Technology Infrastructure and Chief of Staff for Information Services at the University of Oregon, where she provides leadership for technology strategy, innovation, infrastructure, and operations. Her portfolio includes research IT and high-performance computing, networking, compute and storage, data centers, audiovisual and classroom technologies, and UO staff supporting Link Oregon, the statewide research and education network.

As ACIO, Christy leads the strategy and evolution of foundational technology and research cyberinfrastructure, with a focus on resilient, scalable, and innovative services that advance research, teaching, and institutional priorities. She also serves as Principal Investigator for the NSF CC* Cyberinfrastructure Alliance for Oregon, which is developing a statewide strategy to expand access to advanced computing, strengthen research technology expertise and workforce, and improve collaboration across Oregon’s public universities.

As Chief of Staff, Christy serves as a strategic partner to the CIO, helping shape and implement portfolio priorities across operations, communications, and strategic planning. She provides leadership and coordination for initiatives that span organizational boundaries, works with university leaders to resolve complex cross-campus issues, and builds strong partnerships across the institution to advance shared goals.

Christy has more than twenty years of higher education technology leadership experience across three AAU member R1 universities, including prior service as Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT and CIO at the University of Washington Bothell. She is nationally engaged with Internet2, EDUCAUSE, Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation, and the Coalition for Networked Information.

Christy holds a bachelor’s degree in Biobehavioral Health and an Executive MBA with a concentration in leadership and strategy from Penn State University.
