Biography

Cleven is the Director of IT Security Compliance for the University of Oregon and works with campus partners to ensure the IT Security regulations & policies from the university, local, state, federal & international entities and agencies are met. My team and I facilitate the integration and inclusion of security & privacy standards in the people, processes & procedures used at the university. Previously, Cleven led an IT team for 23 years, that provided effective technology solutions, built partnerships, and managed all aspects of Information for divisions of Student Life and Undergraduate Studies at the University of Oregon. The team comprised of helpdesk, systems and infrastructure, web and special applications teams.

Since 2009, Cleven has lead workshops and trainings through Network Startup Resource Center in collaboration with African Internet Summit, The African Network Operators Group (AfNOG) and other regional NOGs (Network Operating Center). The topics covered were Network and Systems Monitoring and Management; UNIX/Linux System Administration and Direct Engineering Assistance.

Cleven attended University of Dar-Es-Salaam's Faculty of Engineering in Tanzania before transferring to University of Oregon where he studied Computer Science, Mathematics and Master of Public Administration.
