Courtney Miller

Biography

Courtney Miller is recognized as a leading expert on digital literacy and recently joined Adobe to help drive higher education strategy and engagement. She has spent the past two decades working in academia, leveraging her background in media production alongside her passion for experiential learning. She previously served as the Director of Digital Learning Initiatives at the top-ranked USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where she also served as faculty. Her leadership included the creation and launch of a cutting-edge digital makerspace, an Adobe Certification Center that offers over 15 courses and 500 ACA exams a year, and an innovative approach to technology adoption and curriculum design that now has 86% of all Annenberg students using the Adobe Creative Cloud. She began her career working in entertainment, where she spent 2 years as a Field Producer for Oprah’s Oxygen Television Network, shooting documentaries for their primetime news magazine show including coverage of the Emmys and Oscars. She has produced hundreds of concerts throughout Southern California with world-renown artists including Yo Yo Ma and John Williams, and also worked in audio for the inventor of THX sound. Her ideas and overall approach to relationship building and problem solving have been largely informed by her international portfolio. As a former faculty member on the Semester at Sea study abroad program, she lived on a ship for 4 years where she taught digital journalism, directed and expanded the shipboard multimedia department, and led students on service learning projects around the world. She is honored to still serve as an emeritus Adobe Education Leader, is a contributor to the Educause Horizon Report and is regularly invited to speak at conferences.
