Craig Fowler

Biography

As Chief Information Officer (CIO), Craig Fowler is a member of the university's executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the university's information technology operations and providing strategic leadership in planning, developing, implementing and maintaining technology and information systems that support the academic and administrative goals of the university. Mr. Fowler is an Information Technology Senior Executive with Fortune 500 global management experience. His expertise is building advantage and value via strategic transformation, strong constituent relationships, and improved operational execution. With extensive experience leading all facets of information technology, he has previously led a multi-national organization with IT personnel in 8 countries and directed large organizations and budgets. Previously, Mr. Fowler was Vice President of Information Technology (CIO) with Corning Cable Systems, the telecommunications cable and hardware subsidiary of Corning Incorporated. He also served as an information technology executive in positions at Dell, Raytheon and Texas Instruments. Mr. Fowler was appointed in 2004 and 2007 by the North Carolina Governor as a commissioner for the e-NC Authority, a state initiative to link all North Carolinians, especially those in rural areas, to the Internet. He was a member of the board of directors of the N.C. Technology Association from 2002 until January 2009.
