
Dan Carchidi
Biography
Dan Carchidi is Associate Director of Academic Technology at the University of New Hampshire. in this role, he promotes digital learning effectiveness by developing strategic relationships with the provost’s office, academic departments and programs to ensure that Academic Technology supports UNH’s goals for digital learning in a systematic, scalable and rigorous way that creates a flexible, interdisciplinary learning environment. Dan leads high profile faculty development efforts in areas such as Open Education, active learning, online learning and inclusive teaching. He oversees the UNH Instructional Design & Development team and advances their mission of supporting effective instructional design principles and practices for UNH faculty’s face-to-face and online instruction. Dan is a member of the numerous UNH committees related to teaching and learning.
He was most recently Director of Special Projects and Program Manager within MIT's Office of Digital Learning where he led MITx (MIT's Massive Open Online Course development effort) and the MITx Fellows Program. Previously, he managed the Instructional Development Center at UNH where he was responsible for promoting and supporting the campus-wide use of instructional technology for online and face-to-face courses. Dan has also served as the Publication Director at MIT OpenCourseWare where he was responsible for the overall budget, schedule, quality, and team management of the OpenCourseWare publication, which included over 2000 courses from MIT's 33 academic departments as well as MIT's Highlights for High School web site.
