Biography
Daniel Sewell is Provost & Executive Vice President at Saybrook University. Dan joined Saybrook in September of 2011; and, is responsible for all aspects of the academic enterprise at Saybrook. In his scholarly work, he explores issues related to higher education, scholarship, and the role of the scholar-practitioner in education.
Previously, Dan was Chief Learning Officer and Associate Provost for Research & Learning at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California. He was at Fielding from January 2000 until August 2011. As Chief Learning Officer, Dan was responsible for educational effectiveness as well as development, implementation, and maintenance of learning systems and information technology across Fielding. As Associate Provost for Research, Dan developed and directed the Office of Research to implement and administer all pre- and post-award activities for sponsored programs, facilitate ongoing development of the research culture, manage administrative processes that support research, and oversee the development and coordination of institutional research at Fielding. As Accreditation Liaison Officer, Dan led the university in its comprehensive regional reaccreditation process, culminating in a successful 7 year reaccreditation decision.
Dan earned a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Emory University. He received undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is also a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, MS.
