Biography

Dan Stones is Manager of Event Content at EDUCAUSE, where he leads the strategy, design, and delivery of session programming for conferences and events serving higher education IT professionals. He oversees the full content lifecycle across in‑person and online experiences, collaborating with advisory committees, internal teams, and external partners to create relevant, engaging, and forward-looking programs.

With over two decades of experience spanning education, healthcare, and third‑party event services, Dan is a lifelong champion of the meetings industry. Prior to returning to EDUCAUSE after a 6-year hiatus, he held senior leadership roles at Cogent Global Solutions, Coalesced Events, and Maritz Global Events, following a 16‑year career planning conferences in education and healthcare, including almost 7 years as a meeting planner for EDUCAUSE. He has served on many meetings industry boards and councils including President of PCMA’s Rocky Mountain Chapter. He remains a very active veteran leader in a multitude of volunteer positions.

Based in Denver, Dan is an avid traveler who spent six months living in Japan and enjoys exploring the outdoors, discovering new cultures, and learning languages.
