David Adkins

Biography

Currently the CIO (Chief Information Officer) of NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research Development Authority). Responsible for managing the Authority's Information Technology, Data Governance and Web Operations units and serves as a key leader responsible for implementing and maintaining technology to support NYSERDA’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate economic growth, and reduce customer energy bills. Previously,  part of the NY State Information Technology Services CIO Executive Team focused on improving services and support to NewYork State agencies and the citizens of New York. In this role, responsible for 141 public facing websites supported by WebNY and led End User Services - supporting over 100,000 NYS employees.

Other experience includes work as CTO (Chief Technology Officer) for the 75,000-member New York State Bar Association - the largest voluntary state bar association in the country. Before joining NYSBA,  Director of Information Technology for NYSUT (New York State United Teachers), an organization of over 600,000 members who work in, or are retired from, New York's schools, colleges, and healthcare facilities. Before NYSUT, I worked at several technology firms developing technology solutions for numerous clients in the public and private sector.

Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications from Syracuse University, an M.B.A. from the School of Business, University at Albany, and a Ph.D. in Information Science from the School of Computing and Information, University at Albany.

He is currently a member of Hudson Valley Community College's School of Business Advisory Committee and teaches graduate level technology courses at the University of Maryland University College.
