David Lassner

Biography

David Lassner was appointed as the 15th President of the University of Hawaii. He was the founding CIO for the University of Hawaii, the State's sole provider of public higher education, which is composed of 10 accredited campuses and 5 education centers on 6 islands. Within EDUCAUSE he has served on and Chaired the Board of Directors, served on and chaired the Nominations & Elections Committee, served on and chaired the Recognition Committee, initiated and led several constituent groups, and served on the faculty of the EDUCAUSE Management Institute as well as CAUDIT's sister-institute. David has been an active leader in a number of other statewide, national and international IT-related organizations including Hawaii's High Technology Development Corporation, the Hawaii Broadband Task Force, Kuali, Internet2 and the Pacific Telecommunications Council. He earned an A.B in economics and an M.S. in computer science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D in communications & information sciences at the University of Hawaii.
