
Randy McDonald
Biography
Dr. Randy McDonald is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Stephen F. Austin State University where he supports the online principal preparation program, advises undergraduate students, and is responsible for the QEP and Distance Education portions of the SACS fifth-year report. Randy is currently serving as Immediate Past-President of the Texas Distance Learning Association and is a member of the board of directors of the United States Distance Learning Association.
Prior to his current role, Randy was the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. Over a 16-year period, that role included the leadership of distance education, instructional technology, teaching excellence, learning spaces, and the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan. Before his role as Director, Randy taught instructional technology courses at the undergraduate and graduate level for five years.
Randy holds a B.B.A. in Quantitative Studies from Abilene Christian University, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, an Ed.D. in Higher Education from Texas A&M-Commerce, and an M.S. in Library Science from the University of North Texas. Dr. McDonald has published articles regarding technology’s impact on course development, teacher education, and library services, and has made numerous professional presentations.
