David Allen

Biography

David Allen is the Director for Enterprise Systems in Information & Technology Services at Pacific Lutheran University, located just outside Tacoma, WA.  He oversees campus telecommunications, systems administration, identity management, and data networking. David joined PLU as a Data Systems Technician in 1994, progressively moving into his current role in 2008. He has been responsible for technology infrastructure design for new construction and major renovation projects, including the Morken Center for Learning & Technology. He also leads technology and communication aspects of Pacific Lutheran University’s emergency management and data security programs.

In addition to his work at PLU, David volunteered as the IT Team Leader for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Triennial Youth Gathering from 1999-2015.  He led a volunteer team that was responsible for all aspects of computer and communications technology in support of the Gathering and its 40,000 high school youth and adult chaperone attendees. David also serves in volunteer and advisory roles with the PLU Computer Science Industrial Advisory Board, EDUCAUSE, Internet2 NET+, and NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium (NWACC).

David holds a BA in Computer Science from Pacific Lutheran University and has completed leadership development programs from EDUCAUSE, Harvard Graduate School of Education, and is a NWACC Leadership Program Fellow (2017).
