Biography

David Sterling is the Director of the Enterprise Technology Project Management Office (PMO) within the Office of the CTO at Washington University in St. Louis. In this role, he leads enterprise portfolio governance and delivery, with a focus on strategic alignment, capacity management, and disciplined execution of institution-wide technology initiatives.

Dave brings over 25 years of experience in information technology, spanning IT leadership, application development, business analysis, business intelligence, and project and portfolio management. He has successfully led a wide range of initiatives, including infrastructure modernization, service deployments, new construction technology enablement, and large-scale enterprise rollouts.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Toledo, a Master of Science in Information Systems from Eastern Michigan University, and is a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute.

Prior to his IT career, Dave served in the U.S. Army as an intelligence analyst and order of battle specialist, experience that continues to inform his approach to risk management, decision discipline, and operational clarity.
